More and more popular in the online gambling community are so-called Hi Lo games, where the goal is to guess whether the next number will be higher or lower. On this site we introduce the different variants of Hi-Lo games and show how to play them with Bitcoin. We also show what strategies there are in the games and whether you can win with them.

High Low Card Games

The original High Low game is based on a full 52-card deck. It is also known as Higher or Lower. First the player bets the desired amount of money. Then the first card is drawn. The player must now guess whether the next card will be higher or lower. If the player guesses correctly, he wins the round. The amount of the winnings depends on the probabilities of the respective bets. For example, if a 3 is drawn first, the probability is very high that the next card will be higher. The potential profit is correspondingly low here. If both cards are equal, the bet is usually returned. However, there are slight differences in the rules depending on the casino.

Stake.com Hilo Game

A modern variant of this classic High Low game is offered by the cryptocurrency casino Stake. Apart from a few small differences, this game works the same way as described above.

The game is built in such a way that you win even if you have cards of the same value. The ace is not the highest but the lowest card here. The following table shows the payouts and probabilities for the different starting situations in the game. At the end of the round you can draw more cards and thus further increase the payout multiplier. The data in the table only refer to the first turn of the game.

Card Lower or Same (Payout / Probability) Higher or Same (Payout / Probability)
King 1.07 / 92.31% 12.87 / 7.69%
Queen 1.07 / 92.31% 6.44 / 15.38%
Jack 1.17 / 84.62% 4.29 / 23.08%
10 1.29 / 76.92% 3.22 / 30.77%
9 1.43 / 69.23% 2.57 / 38.46%
8 1.61 / 61.54% 2.15 / 46.15%
7 1.84 / 53.85% 1.84 / 53.85%
6 2.15 / 46.15% 1.61 / 61.54%
5 2.57 / 38.46% 1.43 / 69.23%
4 3.22 / 30.77% 1.29 / 76.92%
3 4.29 / 23.08% 1.17 / 84.62%
2 6.44 / 15.38% 1.07 / 92.31%
Ace 12.87 / 7.69% 1.07 / 92.31%

The left value indicates the payout multiplier by which the bet amount is multiplied in case of a win. The value corresponds to the odds as known from the sports betting sector. Next to it there is the probability of winning in percent. From the table you can easily see how much the casino pays out to the player in different game situations. The house edge is set to an average of 1%. Thus the RTP (Return to Player) for this game is 99%. The minimum bet is very low at 0.00000001 BTC.

Bitcoin Hi-Lo Switch

High Low Switch is a popular casino version of the classic High Low game. The officially licensed Bitcoin casino mBitCasino provides an excellent implementation of this game.

After the player has confirmed his bet, three cards are dealt. The player now guesses whether the next card drawn will be higher or lower. If the guess is wrong, the player loses his bet and the round is over. If the guess is correct, the player wins. The player now has the option to cash out the winnings. However, the player can also continue playing with the remaining cards. The total profit can thus be increased. If the player guesses only one card wrong, he loses the entire bet. Additionally, the player can exchange unwanted cards for others. This option is available twice per round. If a card of the same value is drawn, the player loses. As in the variant presented above, the ace is the lowest card.

Hi Lo Dice Games

In the cryptocurrency world, so-called dice games are very popular. However, there are not really dices with which a number is rolled. This simply means that a random number is selected. There are many different variants of dice games. Some of these games such as the Multiply BTC game on the FreeBitcoin site are designed as Hi-Lo games.

In this game a number between 0 and 10000 is drawn. The player first bets whether the number will be higher than 5250 or lower than 4750. If the player is correct, the stake is doubled. If the player is wrong, he loses his bet. For all numbers between 4750 and 5250 the casino wins, no matter what the player has selected. This results in the so-called house edge, which is 5%. The RTP (Return to Player) is accordingly 95%. But there are still special features. Once per hour the player can play for free and win up to $200 in Bitcoin. Players will also receive free lottery tickets for the weekly Bitcoin lottery for playing the Hi-Lo game.

Free Bitcoin Hi Lo Strategies

When it comes to gambling strategies, it is very important to understand and internalize that there can be no strategy with which you can win permanently. Gambling is pure mathematics, which is used for the benefit of the casino. There are some websites and guides that claim that you can make money or bitcoins through certain strategies. This is simply not true and the corresponding pages and guides are all untrustworthy. Gambling is never a way to make money. Therefore never deposit money that you can still use in real life.

Despite these remarks, it can make sense to play games of chance with a strategy. This can, for example, increase the excitement of the game. Many players play the so-called doubling strategy in the Hi Lo game on FreeBitcoin. However, this strategy is quite risky and (like any other strategy) leads to the loss of bitcoins in the long run.

Free Bitcoin Hi Lo Doubling Strategy

The doubling strategy is also often used in other gambling games such as roulette. The aim of the strategy is to end each game round with a win.

  1. In this example, we choose the minimum stake of 0.00000001 BTC as the starting stake.
  2. Now select "Bet HI" or "Bet LO".
  3. If you are correct, the game round can be concluded with a small win of 0.00000001 BTC.
  4. In this case the player starts over again with a bet of 0.00000001 BTC.
  5. If you are wrong, the bet is raised to 0.00000002 BTC and the game is played again.
  6. If you are now correct, the game round can be concluded with a small win.
  7. If the player is wrong again, the bet is further doubled to 0.00000004 BTC.
  8. The bet is doubled and the game is played again until the player wins.

Due to the doubling strategy, the player almost always leaves the game with a small win. But since, as with any game of chance, the rule here is that the casino always wins in the long run, there is of course a catch to the whole thing. In rare cases, the player must double so often that the entire available stake must be risked. You very rarely lose with this strategy, but if you lose, you lose everything. The strategy is very popular to wager bitcoins and get free tickets for the weekly lottery. For every 0.00000500 BTC wagered, the player receives one lottery ticket and one reward point.

DuckDice Hi-Lo Game

The crypto currencygambling site DuckDice provides an excellent Bitcoin Dice Hi Lo game. It is similar to the above described game by FreeBitcoin but it differs in several points. What I wrote above about strategies is also valid for this site without restrictions. You can also get free bitcoins at DuckDice, but you have to play a round of Bitcoin Tic Tac Toe respectively Noughts and Crosses against real opponents. The house edge is set very low with a value of 2% which usually allows a long playing time.
